The Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 was introduced in 1966 as the more practical evolution of the earlier 400 GT. While it kept the 4.0-liter V12, enlarged from the original 3.5-liter unit, the biggest change was the addition of two small rear seats, turning it into a true grand tourer rather than a strict two-seater. It also featured Lamborghini’s own in-house five-speed gearbox, replacing the earlier ZF unit.

With its refined Touring body and improved comfort, the 400 GT 2+2 helped establish Lamborghini as a serious manufacturer rather than just a newcomer. Around 224 examples were built, making it significantly more common than the earlier 400 GT interim model, yet still rare by modern standards.
