The Lamborghini 400 GT Monza was a one-off prototype built in 1966 on a 400 GT chassis. It was styled by Neri and Bonacini, the Modena-based coachbuilders who had previously worked with Lamborghini on early projects. The car featured a lightweight aluminum body with a long fastback profile and distinctive covered headlights, giving it a more competition-inspired appearance compared to the standard Touring-bodied 400 GT.
Interestingly, the script on the car reads “400 GT Monza” but also includes the name “Jarama.” This has caused confusion over the years. The name was used informally on the prototype long before the production Lamborghini Jarama was introduced in 1970. However, the Monza prototype itself was never put into production and remained a unique experimental design, separate from the later Jarama model.
