The Lamborghini Jarama 400 GT was introduced in 1970 as a more compact front-engined V12 grand tourer, effectively replacing the Islero in Lamborghini’s lineup. Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, the Jarama featured sharp, angular lines with distinctive partially covered headlights that gave it a purposeful and slightly aggressive look.
It was powered by a 3.9-liter V12 producing around 350 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, with an automatic available as an option. Although it shared its basic mechanical layout with the Espada, the Jarama had a shorter wheelbase and a tighter 2+2 cabin, giving it a sportier character. A total of 177 400 GT examples were built before the updated Jarama S was introduced in 1973, making the original version one of the rarer V12 Lamborghinis of the 1970s.
