The Lamborghini Islero Le Mans was a one-off racing-modified Islero that was entered for the 1975 24 Hours of Le Mans by French privateer Paul Rilly, based on a standard Lamborghini Islero 400 GT with chassis number 6009.
Instead of being built by the factory, this Islero was prepared by Rilly and his team with a roll cage, racing brakes and suspension, a larger fuel tank, harnesses, special exhaust and other modifications aimed at endurance competition. During qualifying the car suffered a crash and its best lap time of around 5:28 wasn’t enough to make the grid, so it never actually started the race.
The car was later tracked down in France near Clermont-Ferrand in the 2000s and has been in the process of being restored back toward its Le Mans configuration. That restoration has taken longer than initially expected, as specialists work to rebuild its racing-specific modifications and structure.
